🕘 What Are The Met’s Opening Hours?

  • Sunday–Tuesday & Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • Friday & Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

  • Wednesday: Closed

Note: The museum is also closed on Thanksgiving Day, December 25, January 1, and the first Monday in May.

🎟️ How Much Is Admission to The Met?

  • Adults: $30

  • Seniors (65+): $22

  • Students: $17

  • Children under 12: Free

  • Visitors with disabilities: $22 (free for accompanying caregiver)

  • New York State residents and students from NY, NJ, and CT: Pay what you wish

All tickets include same-day access to both Met locations and current exhibitions.

🎒 What Can I Bring Into The Met?

  • Small backpacks: Allowed if carried by hand or worn in front

  • Water bottles: Allowed (secure containers only)

  • Strollers & front-facing baby carriers: Welcome (jogging strollers not permitted)

  • Mobility scooters: Allowed

  • Service animals: Welcome

All visitors must pass security screening. Expect wait times during peak hours.

🚫 What Items Are Not Allowed at The Met?

  • Large bags, luggage, musical instruments, or oversized electronics

  • Glass containers, jars, aerosols, or liquids (other than water)

  • Outside food or drink (except water or medical needs)

  • Large props, banners, art, carts, sports or recreational equipment

  • Markers, paints, adhesives (pencils are permitted)

  • Pets or emotional support animals

  • Weapons or hazardous items

  • Oversized strollers, scooters, skateboards, helmets

  • Selfie sticks, tripods, monopods, drones, or pro photography gear without prior approval

  • Plants or flowers

  • Box cutters, tools, screwdrivers

  • Costumes or full-face masks

Note: Large bags may need to be checked at the coatroom. We recommend traveling light.

📷 Can I Take Photos or Videos Inside The Met?

  • Personal photos & videos (no flash): Allowed in most galleries unless stated otherwise

  • Guided tour recordings: At the guide’s discretion

  • Staged photoshoots or commercial photography: Not permitted

  • Use of images/videos from The Met: Not permitted for commercial or promotional use without permission

🍽 Can I Bring Food into The Met?

No outside food or beverages are allowed inside the museum (except water in a safe container).

However, The Met offers several on-site dining options:

  • The Eatery

  • The American Wing Café

  • Petrie Court Café

  • The Great Hall Balcony Café
